Michael Haigwood Goodroe was diagnosed with autism, a low IQ, and severe learning problems, his life opportunities were characterized as limited. Experts insisted that leading an independent life would be impossible and school was not an option. Against all the odds, Michael went on to earn a BA in History and a Master of Business Administration. He works full time, has a third-degree black belt, sings at fund-raising events, and serves as a motivational speaker. He wrote What Autism Gave Me to provide hope to others facing challenges.
